QA\QC Supervisor - Telecom Engineering and Design
TrueNet Communications is currently seeking a full-time, QAQC Supervisor to perform quality checks and review on engineering drafts and designs. The typical schedule is M-F during normal business hours with some flexibility dependent upon business needs.
The QA/QC Supervisor will be responsible for QA/QC for Telecom and will participate in the creation of quality processes and training processes. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)
Essential Position Functions:
- Oversee and monitor the inspection and review of Outside Plant Engineering surveys and designs to ensure adherence to established quality standards.
- Establish inspection protocols, define sampling procedures, and manage quality scorecard development to insure engineering work meets customer requirements.
- Develop and implement changes in quality process based on inspection results and customer feedback and expectations.
- As part of QA/QC process, review footages that are associated with field mapping notes, digitalizing routing maps and design maps while differentiating between aerial and underground plans as required.
- Develop improvements to processes and is a subject matter expert for other team members.
- Trains newer/less experienced designers/drafters.
- Maintain high level production rates to meet/exceed customer expectations.
- Learn new software and adapt to new technology when required.
- Ability to work to project completion, against aggressive deadlines.
- Develop and create project specific checklists and standards as part of QA/QC process.
- Record and document results and findings in applicable data sheets and forms.
- Complete and submit QC findings in a document to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Ensure completion of QC in a timely manner and track/report activities and metrics.
- Utilize AutoCAD or other customer specified software to post strand mapping data, complete large fiber designs, and to post fiber designs.
- Apply CAD and GIS software to produce custom maps and drawings.
- Help QA/QC manager formulate and revise quality control policies and procedures.
- May be asked to produce consistent, high-quality fiber designs and drafts.
- Other duties as required.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must have 5-8 years in OSPE. Wireless design experience is preferred.
- Must have a solid understanding of customer practices and continually keep up with changes in customer processes.
- Working knowledge of the customer’s contract and applicable billing units.
- Experience in OSP Engineering or OSP Project Management with knowledge of quality expectations for AT&T, Verizon, & Century Link.
- Knowledge of OptiCAD, O-Calc, permitting, TCP, and AT&T job design highly desired.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Map 3D and Trimble Pathfinder preferred.
- Minimum of three years of work experience in GIS with progressively responsible experience in the design and development of GIS systems and applications.
- Experience with a major MSO or Telecom Operator is preferred.
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
- Must have intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills.
- Must be able to efficiently use a Windows-based computer.
- Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communications skills.
- Must be able to work alone, and with a team.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
